It's not every day you get a package from Sweden, Isreal, and Conneticut in one trip to the
mail box. That's what happened today, and here is the Isreal portion of that trip.
Vultures: Formed by Maor Appelbaum. I've gotten stuff from him in my box before, but this is by far the most interesting. Based in Isreal, and appearing to be primarily a live band, describing themselves as an "industrial Sound System Massacre" which I would believe after listening to the disc.
Four tracks on the untitled disc show an aggressive distorted sound, with lots of a scream till your lungs collapse style vocals, with an underpinning of synth work, and harsh beats to drive it forward. And drive it forward it does. Track 1, Internal Plea, is all that I just described, harsh and extreme, yet head-noddable, and intersting. Track 2, Vultures Splendor, follows in that same mold. Track 3, In the Head, is a bit slower, and starts out with distorted reverbed to hell guitar, and yelled vocals, eventually a drum beat joins in, but doesn't really land anywhere. Track 4, Examine [datach'i remix], is easily the best track on the disc. It takes the guitar driven sound, and throws in some nice phased drum and bass breaks and beats (very fast), and does some nice vocal treatments, with some samples layered in. Sort of like one of the tracks off of the spawn soundtrack, wish I could remember the name of that one.
Anyway, aggression distilled into a nice angry four song package.
